Dear Parents and Families,
Thank you very much for visiting our Religious Education page! Religious Education at St. Philip is gearing up for the 2026-2027 season, in which we'll generally meet from mid-September through early-May. We meet once-a-week on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 pm - 7:15 pm. Currently, our class structure is broken down as follows:
1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th Grade - Children will meet, along with a parent/grandparent/godparent/sponsor, with a catechist twice-a-month (generally the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month) for an in-person presentation of a topic and be given work to cover at-home together as a family once-a-month, having a signed sheet by the parent to return at the next class.
2nd Grade - Children in this class prepare to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist, spend time at a half-day retreat (Saturday May 1), and receive these Sacraments toward the end of their 2nd Grade year.
7th Grade/Confirmation 1 & 8th Grade/Confirmation 2 - Children during these two years prepare to be fully initiated into the Catholic Church and to receive the 7 Gifts of the Holy Spirit and to be fully equipped to go out on mission as a disciple of Jesus Christ and live the life of grace He desires for us!
What is all this education ultimately about? To grow in relationship and to fall in love with Jesus Christ and His Catholic Church so that each student might realize and live their life fully alive, as a daughter/son of the ever-present God.
You can register your child for classes at this link!
Thank you and God bless,
Tim McNamara - Director of Religious Education
