Dear Parents and Families,
Thank you very much for visiting our Religious Education page! Religious Education at St. Philip is gearing up for the 2024-2025 season, in which we'll generally meet from mid-September through early-May. We meet once-a-week on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 pm - 7:15 pm. Currently, our class structure is broken down as follows:
1st Grade (Children will meet, along with a parent, with a catechist once-a-month for an in-person presentation of a topic and be given work to cover at-home together as a family the other three (3) weeks)
2nd Grade (Children during these two years in this class prepare to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Communion/Eucharist, receiving these Sacraments toward the end of their 2nd Grade year)
3rd/4th Grade and 5th/6th Grade (Children in these classes learn about Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church, engage in prayer and discover practices in living out the Christian moral life)
7th Grade - Confirmation 1 & 8th - Confirmation 2 (Children during these two years prepare to be fully initiated into the Catholic Church and to receive the 7 Gifts of the Holy Spirit and to be fully equipped to go out on mission as a disciple of Jesus Christ and live the life of grace He desires for us!)
What is all this education ultimately about? To grow in relationship and to fall in love with Jesus Christ and His Catholic Church so that each student might realize and live their life fully alive, as a daughter/son of the ever-present God.
Thank you and God bless, Tim McNamara - Director of Religious Education
